Since its founding in 1977, Thatch & Hooper, LLP, formerly the Law Offices of Gregory D. Thatch, has represented clients throughout California in a multitude of land use, real estate, environmental, and public agency matters. The firm’s client list includes many of the most significant land developers, homebuilders, commercial developers, and financial institutions in the state, as well as numerous local governments. The A-V-rated firm has represented clients in many of the region’s most complex and controversial development matters.
The firm is comprised of dedicated and seasoned attorneys and staff who are prepared to assist clients in all phases of real estate acquisition, entitlements, development, and litigation. The attorneys possess substantial experience in navigating development projects through cities, counties, and local agencies throughout California. The firm also has a unique ability to represent clients before regional, state, and federal regulatory agencies. Several of the agencies with which the firm frequently interacts include the United States Department of the Interior, the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the United States Army Corps of Engineers, the United States Fish & Wildlife Service, the Federal Aviation Administration, the United States Bureau of Reclamation, the Federal Office of Management and Budget, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, the State Reclamation Board, the State Water Quality Control Board, and the California Air Resources Board.
Complex and difficult projects have become the hallmark of the firm’s practice. The firm has secured land use entitlement approvals for many of the region’s most complex and high profile residential, commercial and industrial projects. Additionally, the firm has negotiated numerous large real estate transactions and has represented clients in significant environmental matters and litigation. The firm has also been involved in environmental issues involving the U.S. Clean Air Act, the U.S. Clean Water Act, the National Environmental Policy Act, the California Environmental Protection Act, the U.S. Endangered Species Act, the California Endangered Species Act and numerous other Federal and State statutes. The firm’s practice has extended to issues of endangered species and wetlands permitting. Other assignments have included representation of local government in Washington, D.C. on decisions regarding base closures and in negotiating re-use matters involving closed military bases.
